Our Barrel Nuts, also known as Interscrews or Sleeve Nuts, are internally threaded fasteners which when used in conjunction with a male threaded fastener can be used to clamp two ore more components together.
These Barrel Nuts and are manufactured from Strainless Steel and are available in countersunk and button variants. The heads of the countersunk nuts are designed to fit flush with the surface of the fastened material making them popular with carpentry, cabinetry and DIY projects.
Our Barrel Nuts are available in A1, A2 or A4 Stainless Steel, in sizes ranging from M4 x 10mm to M16 x 25mm.
A barrel nut is a type of nut that features a cylindrical body with a threaded interior and a slotted end. This slotted end allows for easy adjustment using a screwdriver or other flat-blade tool. Barrel nuts are commonly used in conjunction with furniture bolts or threaded dowels to create strong and secure joints in furniture assembly and other woodworking applications.
Strong and secure connections: The threaded design and cylindrical body of barrel nuts provide a robust connection between components. This is particularly beneficial for furniture construction where joints need to withstand weight and pressure.
Easy adjustment: The slotted end allows for effortless tightening and loosening of the nut, even after assembly. This is helpful for precise alignment or making adjustments during furniture assembly.
Clean and concealed design: The barrel nut sits within the furniture joint, creating a clean and aesthetically pleasing finish. This is especially desirable for furniture with exposed joinery.
Reusable: Barrel nuts can be easily removed and reused in different projects, making them a cost-effective and sustainable fastener choice.
In most cases, greasing barrel nuts is not necessary. They are typically used with dry applications like furniture assembly. However, there are a few situations where grease might be beneficial:
Outdoor furniture: If you're using barrel nuts for outdoor furniture exposed to moisture, a dab of waterproof grease on the threads can help prevent rust and corrosion.
High-friction applications: In rare cases, if you're concerned about excessive friction during assembly, a small amount of grease on the threads could ease insertion.
Important note: If you do choose to use grease, apply a very light coating only to the threads. Excessive grease can attract dust and debris, potentially impacting the functionality of the joint.
Barrel Nuts are commonly used in furniture, playgrounds, and signage where aethetics are important. This nut can provide a low prifle decorative finish. Pin Torx Barrel Nuts are used when extra security is required.
