Complete Guide to Tape Selection
What is High Temp Masking?
This Process commonly occurrs within Shot Blasting, Powder Coating, Anodising and Fabrication industries. Each of the High Temp Tapes have a different temperature range and are designed to leave minimal residue in order to achieve a high quality finish.
Which Tape is most suitable for my project?
| Type of Tape | Use |
| Polyester | Used for masking off during powder coating, painting and high temperature processes. |
| Aluminium Foil | Used for Laser Etching, Electroplating, Electrical isolation shielding and providing a waterproof vapour barrier and air leakage protector. |
| Glass Cloth | Used as a masking tape when fabricating and shot blasting. |
| High Temp Crepe | Used to mask off high temperature areas before coating. |
| Matte Cloth | Used to mask during the sandblasting process and low PSI shot blasting. |
| Fleece | Used for Automotive assemblies. |
| Self Amalgamating PVC | Used for insulating, bundling and indentifying cables. |
There are many different types of Tape to choose from; each with different characteristics. Tape can be used in various settings such as the Automotive and Plumbing industry.
Automotive Masking
High temperature masking tapes such as High Temp Crepe, Polyester and PTFE Masking Tape are all used within various aspects of Automotive construction and detailing. As well as this, Alloy Wheel Masking Discs are cut to size and can be used specifically to protect alloy wheels during the refurbishment process.
- High Temp Crepe Tape - Can be used during the powder coating process with a maximum temperature resistance of up 170°c
- Polyester Tape - Can be used during the powder coating process with a maximum temperature resistance up of 230°c
- PTFE Masking Tape - Can be used during the powder coating/curing process within a temperature range of between 180°c (continuously) to 260°c
- Alloy Wheel Masking Discs - Can be used within a temperature range of between 165°c (continuously) to 215°c
