Product Description

Nylon (Natural) Cheese Head Screws — DIN 84

Natural nylon cheese head screws manufactured to DIN 84. Lightweight, corrosion-resistant and non-conductive fasteners ideal for electrical, electronics and general industrial applications.

Key features

  • Material: Nylon (polyamide) — strong, lightweight and non-metallic
  • Head style: Cheese head (slotted) — DIN 84 standard
  • Non-corrosive and non-conductive — suitable for electrical and outdoor uses
  • Low weight and resistant to many chemicals
  • Easy installation with standard slotted screwdriver

Benefits

Nylon cheese head screws are an excellent choice when lightweight, corrosion resistance and electrical insulation are required. They reduce weight in assemblies, avoid galvanic corrosion with metal parts, and are gentle on softer mating materials.

Installation & care

  • Use the correct slotted screwdriver size to avoid stripping the head.
  • Do not overtighten — nylon has lower torque limits than metal screws; use hand tools or torque-limiting drivers when appropriate.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to strong acids, bases or solvents unless verified for the specific nylon grade.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to minimise UV degradation.

What materials are the screws made from?

They are made from natural (unfilled) nylon — a polyamide that provides good mechanical strength, electrical insulation and resistance to many chemicals. If you need filled or flame-retardant grades, please get in contact for a quote.

Where are these screws typically used?

Common uses include electrical assemblies, consumer electronics, plastic housings, light-duty fastening in appliances and where non-conductive or corrosion-resistant fasteners are required.

What sizes and lengths are available?

We commonly stock metric sizes such as M2, M2.5, M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10 and M12 in a range of lengths. Custom sizes and lengths can usually be supplied to order — contact sales for availability.

How do I install Nylon Screws without damaging the head?

Use a correctly sized slotted screwdriver and avoid excessive torque. For repetitive assembly consider a torque-limited driver or driver bit with a depth stop to prevent overdriving.

Can these screws be used outdoors?

Yes — nylon is corrosion-resistant and suitable for many outdoor applications, but long-term UV exposure can degrade natural nylon. For prolonged outdoor use consider UV-stabilised or specialised polymer variants.
