How Do Thread Forming Screws Work?
Thread forming screws use a specially designed thread profile to progressively form a corresponding internal thread within the mating material. As the screw is installed, material is displaced around the thread rather than removed.

Thread Forming Screws and Taptite Screws
Thread forming screws operate on a similar principle to Taptite® screws, which are widely recognised for their thread rolling and thread forming characteristics. Both fastening types are designed to form a strong internal thread during installation rather than relying on a pre-tapped hole.
Taptite-style screws typically use a specialised lobular or trilobular geometry that reduces installation torque while helping to provide strong resistance to vibration and loosening.
