O-Ring Kits

O-Ring Kits are comprehensive assortments of circular rubber seals designed to create secure, leak-proof connections in hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems. Each professional-grade kit contains a carefully selected range of industry-standard sizes manufactured from high-performance elastomers including Nitrile (NBR) and FPM (Fluorocarbon/Viton) rubber. These kits serve as essential maintenance tools for workshops, service centres and manufacturing facilities, providing immediate access to the most commonly required seal sizes for emergency repairs, preventative maintenance and system installations.

O-Ring Kit Specifications

Special Options: Food grade rubber O-rings available on request for FDA-compliant applications

How to Measure O-Rings

Accurate O-ring measurement is crucial for proper sealing. Follow these steps:

  1. Inside Diameter (ID): Lay the O-ring flat on a surface and use digital callipers to measure straight across the inner edges from one side to the other
  2. Cross-Section (CS): Measure the thickness of the rubber at the side of the O-ring using callipers
  3. Outer Diameter (OD): Optional - measure across the outer edges (OD = ID + 2 × CS)

Pro Tip: For stretched or damaged O-rings, measure multiple points and take the average for accuracy. If unsure, our technical team can assist with identification - call 01233 713581.

O-Ring Materials Guide

Nitrile O-Rings (NBR)

Nitrile rubber O-rings offer excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils, hydraulic fluids and fuels, making them the most popular choice for general industrial applications. Ideal for:

  • Hydraulic systems and cylinders
  • Pneumatic equipment
  • Automotive applications
  • General engineering sealing
FPM O-Rings (Fluorocarbon/Viton)

FPM rubber O-rings provide superior chemical resistance and high-temperature performance, suitable for demanding applications including:

  • Chemical processing equipment
  • High-temperature environments
  • Aggressive fluid exposure
  • Automotive fuel systems
Food Grade Rubber O-Rings

For food processing, beverage, pharmaceutical, and medical applications, we supply food grade rubber O-rings manufactured to meet FDA regulations (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600) and EU 1935/2004 standards. Our food safe o rubber rings are available in:

  • Food Grade Silicone: Excellent for low/high temperatures, tasteless and odourless, ideal for dairy and beverage processing
  • FDA Approved EPDM: Superior for hot water, steam sterilization and CIP (clean-in-place) applications
  • White Nitrile (FDA NBR): Oil-resistant food grade rubber suitable for food handling equipment
  • Food Grade FKM: High-temperature food contact applications requiring chemical resistance

Shore Hardness Explained

70 Shore A: Softer durometer offering better sealing at lower compression forces - ideal for static seals and low-pressure applications
75 Shore A: Firmer durometer providing enhanced extrusion resistance - recommended for dynamic seals and higher pressure systems

Common O-Ring Applications

Our O-Ring Kits are extensively used across multiple industries for critical sealing applications:

  • Hydraulic Systems: Cylinder seals, valve seals, pump seals, and hose connections
  • Pneumatic Equipment: Air cylinder seals, fitting connections, and compressor components
  • Automotive: Engine seals, transmission components, air conditioning systems, fuel injectors
  • Plumbing: Tap washers, valve seals, pipe fittings, and water filtration systems
  • Food & Beverage: Food grade rubber seals for processing equipment, bottling lines, dispensing systems
  • Pharmaceutical: FDA-compliant seals for manufacturing equipment and sterile processing
  • Industrial Machinery: Gearbox seals, bearing housings, and rotating shaft applications
  • Manufacturing: Production equipment, assembly line machinery and automated systems

Whether you're maintaining hydraulic systems, servicing automotive components, or managing industrial equipment, our O'Ring Kits provide the reliability and convenience your operations demand.
