Gaffer Tape

Our Gaffer Tape, otherwise known as Duct Tape or Cloth Tape, is a heavy duty polycloth backed adhesive tape designed for strong, temporary surface fixing and repair. Manufactured with a durable cloth tape construction and coated with a high performance synthetic rubber adhesive, it delivers strong initial tack and reliable hold across a wide range of surfaces.

With a working temperature range of -15°C to +70°C and a tensile strength of 60 N/cm, this gaffer tape is water resistant and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The reinforced cloth backing provides strength while remaining easy to tear by hand, making it practical for fast application on site.

Commonly referred to as stage tape or set tape, gaffer tape is widely used in theatre, film, photography, events, broadcasting and industrial environments. It is ideal for securing cables, bundling wires, temporary surface protection and quick cloth repairing tape applications where flexibility and grip are required.

Unlike permanent adhesives, gaffer tape is designed to provide strong hold without excessive residue when removed correctly, making it suitable for staging work and temporary installations. The high heat tolerance also allows safe use around lighting rigs and equipment that generate elevated temperatures.

We stock our cloth tape in 48mm, 75mm and 100mm widths, all supplied in 50 metre rolls for long lasting performance and reduced reordering frequency. Available colours include black cloth tape, silver, red and white to suit different applications and visibility requirements.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Gaffer tape is water resistant but not fully waterproof. It can handle light moisture and outdoor use, but it is not designed for long-term water immersion or permanent sealing.

No, gaffer tape and duct tape are different. Gaffer tape is designed for temporary use and typically removes cleanly without leaving heavy residue, while duct tape has a stronger adhesive and is intended for more permanent repairs.

Use a mild adhesive remover, rubbing alcohol or warm soapy water to loosen the residue. Gently wipe with a soft cloth and avoid harsh solvents that may damage the surface.

You can paint over gaffer tape temporarily, but it is not recommended for permanent finishes. The tape may lift, peel or leave residue once removed, affecting the final paint result.

It can, especially if the paint is not fully cured or the surface was not properly prepared. To reduce the risk, use low-tack tape and remove it slowly while the paint is still slightly tacky.

Yes, gaffer tape is strong and durable. It has a reinforced cloth backing and high tack adhesive, making it suitable for securing cables and temporary fixes, but it is not intended for permanent structural repairs.

Gaffer tape is not highly flammable, but it can burn if exposed to open flames or high heat. It should not be used as a fire-resistant or heat-proof material.
