Stand Off Twist Locks

Stand off twist locks are snap-in cable management fasteners designed to secure and guide wires, cable bundles and small hoses using a push-fit panel fixing. They combine an arrow head snap-in base with a flexible twist-close loop, providing a tool-free method of retaining cables neatly while holding them slightly proud of the mounting surface.

What are stand off twist locks?

Stand off twist locks feature a bottom section formed as a snap-in arrow head fixing which pushes into a pre-drilled hole in a panel, chassis or enclosure. As the fixing is inserted, the flexible legs compress and then expand behind the panel to lock securely in place, accommodating a useful range of panel thicknesses.

The top section consists of flexible twin arms that twist together to form a retaining loop. This loop holds and guides cables, wire bundles or small hoses, keeping them organised while allowing easy opening and closing by hand. These fasteners are also commonly known as purse lock clips because of their twist-close, reusable design.

Stand off twist locks are commonly known as snap-in cable clips, push-mount wire clips, nylon cable retainers or panel-mount cable holders. The term purse lock clips is also widely used to describe their twist-close retaining mechanism.

Typical applications

  • Stand off twist locks are widely used for cable management inside enclosures, helping to guide and retain wiring neatly while maintaining separation from panels and components.

  • They are commonly fitted in automotive wiring looms to control cable runs and provide strain relief.

  • In appliances and control panels, these fasteners are used to organise internal wiring and small hoses, reducing movement and protecting cables from abrasion.

  • Stand-off design helps improve airflow and accessibility within confined housings.

Key features and benefits

  • Fast, tool-free installation using a snap-in arrow head fixing.

  • The flexible twist-close loop allows cables to be secured, released and repositioned easily.

  • The stand-off form keeps wiring slightly raised from the panel surface, supporting improved routing and reduced abrasion.

  • Arrow head fixings accommodate a wider range of shallow panel thicknesses while providing secure retention.

  • Excellent electrical insulation and vibration resistance.
