Our Hexagon Washer Head Self Drilling Screws are designed to drill, tap and fasten into compatible metal materials in a single operation. These Self Drilling Screws feature a hardened drill point, a threaded body and an external hexagon head with an integrated washer face, providing an efficient fastening solution for sheet metal, steel sections and fabricated assemblies.
Often referred to as Hex Head Self Drilling Screws or Tek Screws, these fasteners can reduce installation time by removing the need for a separate pilot hole in many applications. The external hexagon drive allows controlled installation using a compatible socket or powered driver, while the washer-style bearing surface helps distribute the clamping force across a wider area of the material.
DIN 7504K Self Drilling Screws are self-tapping fasteners with a drill-shaped point that creates its own installation hole before forming a mating thread in the material. The drill point passes through compatible sheet metal or steel, allowing the threaded section to engage and secure the components together without requiring separate drilling and tapping operations.
The K form identifies the hexagon head and integrated washer-face design. This combination provides a strong external drive and a larger contact area beneath the head, making these screws particularly useful where reliable clamping, efficient installation and resistance to pull-through are required.
When selecting a Hexagon Washer Head Self Drilling Screw, consider the combined thickness and type of the materials being joined, as well as the required screw diameter, overall length, drill-point capacity, material and finish. The drill point must be suitable for the thickness of the receiving material, while sufficient thread engagement should remain after the screw has passed through the components.
The screw material and finish should also be selected for the intended environment. Coated steel options are commonly used for general indoor or protected applications, while suitable stainless steel grades may be preferred where greater resistance to moisture or corrosion is required.
These screws should be installed using a correctly sized socket or driver at a controlled speed. The screw should be held square to the material while the drill point cuts through the surface. Excessive speed or tightening torque should be avoided, as this can damage the thread, reduce clamping performance or distort thinner sheet materials.
