Our Pan Head Self Drilling Screws are designed to drill, tap and fasten into compatible metal materials in a single installation process. Featuring a rounded pan head, self-tapping thread and hardened drill-shaped point, these screws provide a neat and reliable fastening solution for sheet metal, brackets, panels, enclosures and fabricated components.
Often referred to as Pan Head Tek Screws, these self drilling fasteners can remove the need for a separate pilot hole in many suitable applications. The flat underside of the head provides a secure bearing surface against the material, while the rounded upper profile creates a clean, low-profile finish once installed.
Our range includes Pan Head Self Drilling Screws manufactured to DIN 7504MZ, DIN 7504MH and DIN 7504MT, providing a choice of Pozidriv, Phillips and Torx drive styles for different installation requirements.
Pan Head Self Drilling Screws are metal fasteners with an integrated drill point that cuts through compatible sheet metal before the threaded section forms a mating thread. This allows drilling and fastening to be completed using a single screw, reducing the number of separate operations required during assembly.
The pan head has a slightly domed upper surface and a flat underside that sits firmly against the installed component. Its wider bearing area helps distribute pressure around the fixing point, making this screw style suitable for securing panels, brackets and thinner materials where a countersunk fixing is not required.
When selecting a Pan Head Self Drilling Screw, consider the combined thickness and type of the materials being joined. The drill-point capacity must be suitable for the receiving material, while the screw length should provide sufficient thread engagement after passing through the components.
The screw material and finish should match the operating environment. Coated steel fasteners are commonly selected for indoor and protected conditions, while a suitable stainless steel grade may be required for applications exposed to moisture, weathering or corrosive conditions.
Pan Head Self Drilling Screws should be installed using the correct driver size at a controlled speed. Hold the screw square to the fixing surface while the drill point cuts through the material, then reduce the installation speed as the head approaches the surface.
Avoid excessive tightening torque, as this may strip the newly formed thread, damage the drive recess or deform thinner sheet material. The screw should be tightened until the underside of the pan head sits securely against the component without crushing or distorting it.
