Thread Reduction Adaptors

Thread Reduction Adaptors are threaded fittings designed to convert a larger threaded entry into a smaller female thread, allowing cable glands, conduit fittings and other threaded accessories to be installed where the existing entry size does not match the required component. They are also commonly known as thread reducers, cable gland reducers, reducing adaptors or cable gland reduction adaptors.

Our range includes Sealing and Non-sealing Thread Reduction Adaptors, giving you the flexibility to select the correct fitting for the level of environmental protection required. Non-sealing versions provide a straightforward method of reducing thread size in standard electrical and industrial applications, while sealing versions incorporate a sealing element to help maintain ingress protection when correctly installed with compatible equipment.

For installations in hazardous or potentially explosive environments, we also offer ATEX Ex Thread Reduction Adaptors. These are designed for use within suitable Ex-rated cable management systems and hazardous-area equipment where compatible certified components are required. They are commonly used alongside Ex cable glands, enclosures and other certified electrical accessories in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical processing, chemical manufacturing and other demanding industrial environments.

Thread Reduction Adaptors are widely used within electrical enclosures, control panels, switchgear, junction boxes, machinery, automation equipment and cable management systems. The larger male thread screws into the existing entry, while the smaller internal female thread provides a secure connection point for the required cable gland or threaded accessory.

Available in a range of thread-size combinations, materials and configurations, Thread Reduction Adaptors provide a practical solution where equipment entry sizes and cable gland threads do not match, helping avoid unnecessary modification or replacement of the enclosure.
