Double Ended Threaded Studs

Double Ended Threaded Studs, also commonly known as Engineer's Studs, are threaded fasteners designed with a threaded section at each end and an unthreaded or partially threaded central shank. They are widely used in engineering, machinery, automotive, construction and general assembly applications where a secure threaded connection is required between two components.

Engineer's Studs are particularly useful where one end is permanently installed into a tapped hole, housing or component while the exposed end is used with a nut or mating part. This makes them suitable for applications requiring repeated assembly and disassembly without wearing the internal thread of the main component.

Our range of Double Ended Threaded Studs is available in a selection of metric thread sizes and lengths to suit different installation requirements. Options are manufactured to recognised dimensional standards, including DIN 939, and are available in corrosion-resistant stainless steel grades for demanding environments.

Common applications include machinery assemblies, engine components, flanges, housings, brackets, fabrication and general engineering installations.

What is the difference between DIN 938 & DIN 939?

DIN 938 and DIN 939 Double Ended Threaded Studs are very similar, with the main difference being the length of thread on the end that screws into the component. DIN 938 studs have a shorter fixing thread, while DIN 939 studs have a slightly longer fixing thread for increased thread engagement. As a simple guide, DIN 938 uses around 1x the stud diameter, while DIN 939 uses around 1.25x the stud diameter.
