200HV Flat Washers ISO 7089

Our 200HV Flat Washers, manufactured to ISO 7089, are designed to distribute fastening loads evenly across a surface, reducing localised pressure and helping to prevent damage to the materials being secured. These washers are manufactured to standardised dimensions, making them suitable for a wide range of mechanical, engineering, construction and industrial applications.

ISO 7089 specifies the dimensional and mechanical requirements for normal-series flat washers, ensuring consistent sizing, thickness and hardness. These washers are suitable for use with bolts, screws and nuts in a variety of fastening assemblies.

What Does 200HV (Vickers Hardness) Mean?

The 200HV rating refers to the Vickers Hardness classification of the washer, which indicates its resistance to indentation and permanent deformation under pressure.

Vickers Hardness is measured by pressing a diamond-shaped indenter into the material under a controlled load and measuring the resulting indentation. The smaller the indentation, the harder the material.

Under ISO 7089, the 200HV hardness class specifies a hardness range of 200–300 HV, rather than a single fixed hardness value. This provides a balance between hardness and resistance to deformation, helping washers maintain their shape and distribute loads effectively when fasteners are tightened.

200HV washers are suitable for use with hexagon bolts and screws up to property class 8.8 and compatible nuts up to property class 8. For higher-strength fastening assemblies, such as those using property class 10.9 bolts, 300HV washers are generally specified.

Applications:

  • Mechanical Engineering: Used in bolted assemblies to distribute clamping loads and reduce localised surface pressure.

  • Automotive Applications: Suitable for fastening components and assemblies where consistent load distribution is required.

  • Construction and Fabrication: Used alongside compatible nuts and bolts in general structural and mechanical connections.

  • Machinery and Equipment: Helps protect contact surfaces and maintain consistent fastening performance.

  • General Industrial Fastening: Suitable for a wide variety of assemblies requiring standardised washers with controlled hardness.

Benefits:

  • Controlled Hardness: The 200HV classification provides resistance to indentation and permanent deformation under fastening loads.

  • Even Load Distribution: Helps spread clamping forces over a larger surface area, reducing concentrated pressure.

  • Standardised Dimensions: Manufactured to ISO 7089 for consistent dimensional accuracy and compatibility.

  • Surface Protection: Helps minimise marking and damage to the material beneath the bolt head or nut.

  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for use with a wide range of metric fasteners and general-purpose fastening assemblies.
