Product Description
Washers are simple mechanical components, added to assemblies to distribute load across the head of the fastener. This distributes the stress over a larger area preventing damage to the fastener and mating surface.
They are commonly produced to a standard to allow compatibility across a range of manufacturers, the most common standards are DIN125 and BS4320, in which the outside diameter of the washer is twice that of the inside diameter.
When would Brass Washers be used?
In an industrial setting brass would commonly be used either in an electrical connection as it conducts electricity 10 times better than steel; brass is also used as unlike steels no sparks come off brass when it to struck or abraded.
