Our Hygienic Hex Head Screws feature a blue seal which prevents water and bacteria from seeping into hard-to-reach places. The seal also prevents metal on metal contact as it can be unhygienic when friction takes place between these materials. Depending on the size, we offer our Hygienic Screws with EPDM or NBR sealants.
Our Hygienic Screws are made from A4 Stainless Steel and have a maximum roughness of 0.8μm Ra to limit microscopic bacteria. These Screws are EHEDG Hygienic Standard Type EL – Class I AUX Certified and 3-A (RPSCQC) Certified and have a self-draining design making them suitable for use in wash-down areas.
A primary benefit when cleaning these bolts is that they can be jet washed; this is particularly useful within food manufacturing settings where large volumes of liquid and food can spill over.
These screws are available in sizes from M4 to M24, and pair with our Hygienic Cap Nuts.
What is the difference between EPDM and NBR sealants?
NBR is resistant to oils, fuels and chemicals whereas EPDM has a good level of resistance to UV, heat and weathering. They can both be used within hygienic settings due to their low absorption to water which can harbour bacteria.
