Liquid Tight Break Through Plugs

Liquid tight break through plugs are dual-function sealing components that provide IP67 and IP68 rated protection for electrical panels and enclosures. These innovative plugs serve as either liquid tight closures to prevent ingress or can be perforated to function as cable bushings when required. Manufactured from co-moulded Nylon 6/6 and TPE rubber, these break through plugs offer superior temperature resistance from -40°C to 100°C with an HB flammability rating. Across UK industries including electrical, telecommunications, automotive, marine and industrial automation, these versatile sealing solutions protect critical equipment from moisture, dust and environmental contamination whilst providing the flexibility to accommodate future cable installations.

The breakthrough design allows the plug to remain sealed until a cable is pushed through, forming a liquid tight bushing. Each plug features locking fingers that provide incremental panel thickness increases up to specified maximum tolerances, making them suitable for panels as thin as 0.5mm. Available in mounting hole diameters from 12.7mm to 38.1mm, these plugs offer comprehensive coverage for standard UK electrical installations whilst maintaining certification to Underwriters Laboratories IP67/68 standards.

Available Materials & Styles:

  • Co-moulded Nylon 6/6 and TPE rubber construction for durability and flexibility
  • Black colour finish (RAL9005) for professional appearance
  • IP67/IP68 certified liquid tight sealing performance
  • HB flammability rating for electrical safety compliance
  • Sizes ranging from 12.7mm to 38.1mm mounting hole diameters
  • Variable panel thickness accommodation through locking finger design

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Dual functionality: Works as sealed plug or cable bushing depending on requirements
  • Superior environmental protection: IP67/IP68 certification against dust and water ingress
  • Wide temperature range: Operates reliably from -40°C to 100°C in UK climates
  • Flexible panel compatibility: Locking fingers accommodate variable panel thicknesses
  • Chemical resistance: Nylon 6/6 and TPE materials resist common industrial chemicals
  • Tool-free installation: Simple push-fit design for quick field installation
  • Future-proof design: Sealed until needed, then converts to cable bushing
  • Cost-effective solution: Eliminates need for separate plugs and bushings

Common UK Use Cases:

  • Electrical control panels: Sealing unused cable entry points in industrial switchgear and distribution boards across manufacturing facilities
  • Telecommunications equipment: Protecting fibre optic and data cable entries in outdoor cabinets and exchange buildings
  • Marine and offshore applications: Providing saltwater-resistant sealing for navigation equipment and control systems in harsh coastal environments
  • Automotive manufacturing: Sealing electrical connections in production machinery and robotic systems requiring frequent reconfiguration
