Silicone End Caps

Silicone End Caps, are a type of high temperature end cap, commonly used as powder coating caps and masking caps. They are precision moulded protective covers designed to shield components during industrial finishing processes. These specialised rubber caps provide exceptional masking and protection capabilities, withstanding extreme temperatures from -40°C to 315°C whilst maintaining their flexible, reusable properties.

Widely used across UK manufacturing industries including automotive, aerospace, electronics and general engineering, silicone rubber caps serve as essential tools for powder coating, shot blasting, anodising and electroplating operations. Their primary benefit lies in delivering superior temperature resistance compared to standard rubber alternatives, combined with excellent chemical resistance and durability that enables multiple reuses, making them a cost-effective masking solution. Available in various standard sizes and colours, these protective coating caps can also be manufactured to custom specifications to meet specific application requirements.

Available Materials & Style Options:

  • High-grade silicone rubber construction (40A-80A Shore A hardness)
  • Black silicone caps and coloured silicone caps for easy size identification
  • Round end cap design for tubular and cylindrical components
  • Tapered internal profile for a secure fit across slight size variations
  • Multiple wall thicknesses balancing flexibility and durability
  • Standard metric sizes with custom sizes and shapes available

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Temperature resistance from -40°C to 315°C for powder coating and curing processes
  • Excellent chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents and cleaning agents
  • Reusable silicone design lowers masking costs and waste
  • Flexible material fits irregular shapes and precision components
  • Easy installation and removal, even after high-temperature processing
  • Electrical insulation, non-marking finish and UV and ozone resistance
  • Food-grade silicone cap options available for FDA applications

Common UK Use Cases:

  • Automotive powder coating of alloy wheels, brake callipers, suspension and chassis components
  • Aerospace masking of threaded holes and precision surfaces during anodising
  • Electronics manufacturing protecting connector pins and circuit board components
  • Medical device manufacturing requiring high-temperature sterilisation
  • Engineering and fabrication masking bolts, studs and threaded components during shot blasting and surface preparation

    Frequently Asked Questions

Silicone end caps are used to protect the ends of tubes, pipes, studs, bolts and other components during manufacturing, finishing and storage. They are commonly used for powder coating, painting, anodising, shot blasting and masking applications where high temperature resistance is required.

Most standard silicone end caps operate between -40°C and 315°C, making them suitable for powder coating ovens, industrial curing processes, baking, painting and other high-temperature manufacturing applications.

Yes. The flexible nature of silicone allows many silicone end caps to stretch over slightly larger components whilst maintaining a secure fit. Tapered silicone end caps are particularly useful where several component diameters need to be covered with one cap size.

Silicone end caps provide much higher temperature resistance, making them ideal for powder coating and curing processes up to 315°C. EPDM end caps generally offer excellent weathering and chemical resistance but are better suited to lower temperature applications.
