DIN to ISO Conversion: what's the difference?
DIN and ISO Standards Explained
What they mean and why they matter for fasteners and fixings.
What is a DIN Standard?
DIN Standards were founded in 1917 by the German Institute of Standardisation to regulate products and provide quality assurance. DIN references are predominantly used in Germany but are widely recognised across Europe. They are commonly applied to metal products and are valued for dimensional accuracy, which is especially important for fasteners and fixings where safety and compatibility matter.
What is an ISO Standard?
ISO Standards are produced by the International Organisation for Standardisation, founded in London in 1947. Before this it was known as the International Federation of the Nation Standardising Associations (ISA), originally formed in 1926 to develop mechanical engineering standards. ISO now covers a broad spectrum of products and procedures across industries including healthcare, catering and technology.
