Measuring 58.3mm wide, the M16 AA4 Stainless Steel Wing Nut is a large heavy-duty butterfly nut -also known as a butterfly nut or thumb nut, manufactured to DIN 315 and designed for heavy industrial and civil engineering applications -large structural clamps, major access hatches and heavy plant where the wing nut must deliver maximum hand-tightened clamping force. The two large wings allow the nut to be tightened and loosened by hand without any tools -essential wherever the fastening needs to be adjusted, inspected or removed regularly without stopping to find a spanner.
A4 stainless steel (grade 316) is the marine and offshore grade -the molybdenum content makes it significantly more resistant to chloride attack than A2, which is essential in coastal, marine, offshore and chemical processing environments at this heavy structural size. The 58.3mm wide wing profile and 30.8mm height ensure adequate hand-tightening torque even on heavy structural fastenings. A countersunk bearing face distributes clamping load across the surface. DIN 315 compliant for use with any M16 bolt or threaded rod at 2mm pitch.
